Info: How to Re-Sign Your Players

As the GM of a team, the re-signing period is important if you wish to keep together the players which will make your team successful. This post will hopefully help to explain how to make an offer to your player/s.

To re-sign your players you must send a PM to the Player Agent who represents your division.

In your PM you must state:

The name of the player you're bidding on.
The salary you're willing to offer the player.
- Note: the highest salary will not neccessarily win a bid for a player. Factors such as the player's expected playing-time, the stage of a player's career and your team's chances of success are more important. It's beneficial for your team's situation not to offer a ludicrous contract. Infact, if your offer is too generous it will be rejected on the grounds of being unrealistic. As a re-signing team, you will always have the upper-hand in negotiations - if any increase to your offer is required, the player agent will inform you of this.
  - The maximum length of contract you may offer is 5 years.
  - Contracts may contain Player Options and Team Options.
  - The maximum a contract may increase/decrease with respect to the year prior to it is 11%.

Your team's salary situation for each year of the contract you're offering.
- All teams are required to have updated their salary charts to 2008/09.
- Although contracts may not let your team total exceed $65m in the first year, a $70m cap exists in all further years.
Remember to mention factors you think will help re-sign your player.
Teams must take into account their salary situations when making multiple offers and plan carefully. If you make multiple offers that take your team close to the salary cap, the first offer to be accepted and posted by a player agent will be finalized.

Once you've sent your PM, please allow some time between sending and receiving a response from the Player Agent; they'll be fielding offers from different teams from around the league. Do not send further PMs demanding a response, this will lessen your chances of signing your desired free agent.

The Player Agent will eventually get back to you with either:

A rejection of the terms you offered.
An acceptance of the terms you offered or
A request for you to change certain terms in your offer.
