2008 Rookie Draft PostponedI regret to announce that the 2008 Rookie Draft (Rose/Beasley etc.) will not be happening until the end of the first season here at Dynasty Six, contrary to what I originally had intended. The main reason for this is because there are no roster patches which include the 2008 rookies, only a set of ratings posted thanks to the NLSC, which don't, unfortunately, contain any of the information of each players position, team, jersey number, birth date and lots of other variables that exist in the .dbf files NBA Live sources from to operate and requires to do so. The other reason is that we have waited long enough to get the season started and I don't want to wait indefinitely for the NLSC to release a rookie roster patch. Also, beginning in the 2008/09 season now would mean updating the League Salaries Database and most of the players who have been re-signed in real life this year have not made their contract information public yet. If you have made any trades that relied on there being a 2008 rookie draft, you may postpone their finalizing until the end of the first season here at D6. Just PM me with your request and I'll look into it. Remember that this decision has not been made because I want to postpone the rookie draft. It's been made because I really don't have a choice. So unless you're willing to learn how to edit .dbf files and create an entirely new set of rookie ratings that are good enough for our league to source from, please refrain from telling me how crap I am.

Well, if we postpone the rookie draft, wouldnt we be doing the 07/08 season instead of the 08/09 season
Edit: For instance, shouldnt the draft after this season be based on the standings of this season If you jump into the 08/09 season then you are basing the 2009 rookie draft on 07/08 standings instead of 08/09.

Good point.
I think the best way is to maintain the expansion draft team-order at the top of the 2008 rookie draft: Louisville Stallions Montreal Jets Baltimore Bullets San Diego Dragons Las Vegas Aces Tampa Bay Assassins
Picks 7 onwards will be determined by this upcoming season's regular record.

Do we have a new San Diego Dragons GM Since the Philly GM got fired in D5 should the Dragons GM be fired here too

Isn't all the information available though Sure it takes awhile as I had to do it in RimRockers but creating rookies can be done and most of those ratings don't need tweaking. If you want an edited .dbf file then yeah that could take awhile.

I dont think the expansion teams should get those picks instantly, just do it by standings, those teams will probably be bad so they will probably end up there anyway, it wouldnt be fair if say on of the original teams has a terrible year a worse year than an expansion team and gets a worse draft pick

Yeah Boston. I got rid of most of my good players in hope of rebuilding. (Starting with a top 3 pick next year) and if the expansion teams automatically get those picks, then it throws my whole plan off.

If we are using NBA Live 07 I can make a roster file with the rookies (I'll do the work) if we get the ratings set in stone. Would anyone oppose this or are we just going to go what has already been decided

I would really like to not have to wait until after 1 season for the rookies. I want the original plan, so I like Laker's idea.

Would anyone oppose this or are we just going to go what has already been decided If you could transfer me that file, it'd be great. I can edit it into a Live 06 version. We could, perhaps, have an in-season draft if it all goes to plan and the impact would be minimised.

In-season draft is ridiculous. Just have it at the end of the year. We will use 08 salaries and contracts and just proceed at the end of the year.

I do think that worst record should get the first pick next year. Chances are it will be one of the expansion teams anyways, but some of them have done some good work building contenders.

Whilst testing the dbf edits I make, I have simulated the Division 2 season the entire way through a couple of times and, even with their teams as they are now, some of the expansion teams do push for one of the top 4 promotion spots. Although they are yet to make it that far, they come close every now and again.

the reverse of the expansion draft would do just nice;D anyway is it possible to use NLSC rookie ratings and integrate it with the Realistic Roster 6 which already features class 2008 rookies

Can we please just have a normal loterry in the next offseason Because I really can't afford to add another year to rebuild. I'm sure a lot of other teams are in that same boat.

I was thinking that'd be more fair. Even if some expansion teams suck, if they suck enough then they'll be last place in the league anyway.
There is 1 problem though. Louisville has Deron Williams already, and Utah traded him with the certainty that he was getting the No.1 pick in return.
