Even if you think Stuckey is worth more than Hughes, I implore you to look at ratings.. this is obviously going to help Detroit in his quest for a title while Stuckey isnt doing anything for him.

I need some explaining from the Pistons. This really doesn't make sense for them.

Larry Hughes has gone the way of Steve Francis (even though Hughes wasn't nearly as good as Franchise). If the option to choose between Hughes and Stuckey was posed to NBA GM's, I'd be shocked if their decision wasn't unanimously in favor of Stuckey. I'm going to decline for now.

Declined as well. You're getting rid of one of the next wave of breakout PG's in this league, and a pair of decent role players with nice contracts, for a role player who has a gigantic contract.

I dont think its as bad as my fellow mods see it as. Ill accept. Detroit wants to win this year and a 79 rated player will help him a ton more than a 69 rated player. Obviously, the future for these 2 players will be different, but im strictly looking at it as a last hurrah on trying to win this year.

I'll accept also for the reasons above, obviously Detroit loses out long term but his team's window for winning a championship is closing fast, at least with Hughes they have a better chance of winning the title this season.

Larry Hughes doesn't help you win now, it just screws you over both money wise, and talent wise. Stuckey is going to get a ratings boost, and Hughes doesn't deserve that 79 at all. I know Louisville is laughing on the way to the bank right now, and I don't blame him one bit.
You'd be hard pressed to find a single GM in the NBA who would trade Stuckey for Hughes, nevermind giving up Mikki Moore and Walter Hermann as well.

well, last season in D5, i would have done this trade for my nets from detroits perspective (getting a 79 for a 69)
larry hughes is still a great defensive player, and could posisbly rejuvinate his career in chicago
detroit and myself have had talks about this trade for months now (since the last one didnt go through :/) and we really both think this is best for our teams

How does adding Hughes not help him win this year It sure as hell doesn't hurt his chances. Last I checked, NBA Live is a ratings game and if my math is correct 79>69.

If I personally had the chance to win a title this year, I would make the trade as well. When you set your mind to winning this year, you don't worry about what guys are going to be rated next year and what the team salary situation will look like next year. You just worry about this year. Just my 2 cents.

I was wrong to say it doesn't help his chances this year, but he still gets raped hard.
There are other ways to win now than trading a great young talent for a guy who's averaged 58 games per year since signing that gigantic contract with Cleveland, which still has three years on it. We can just forget about the fact that you're paying him 12 million a year though. Paying that price for a bench player is well worth it these days apperently.
So lets assume he could be healthy for a whole season...
With last years stats of 12 PPG, he gets you 1 PPG for every million you put in! That's value if I've ever seen it.
Long story short, if you want to win now you have many other options. If you want to move Stuckey that badly, you could get a hell of a lot more than Larry Hughes. That's for sure.

I agree with the above Canadian. This trade poses an interesting question though: "How much to ratings weigh into a trade". Myself, I try and look past the ratings while voting on trades and judge the player on what I believe his value is while factoring in a bunch of stuff like ability, age, potential, contract, etc. And I understand that this is only to use Hughes' rating for one year, but I find it hard to believe that (like Indy mentioned) he is anywhere near the best value you can get for Stuckey.

I also would not make this trade if I were Detroit. Paying this much for a guy who will only be your sixth man, and who wont start for the Bulls this year in real life either, and who has noticably declined whilst eating up the payroll, isn't the sort of thing I'd EVER trade a rising star for - one that Joe Dumars is adamant will stay in Detroit.
But I accept. Both Detroit and Louisville are long term GMs here and we are in no danger of losing either one of them should this trade go through, or anything drastic like that. I accept.

So what happens when Boston still kicks Detroit's ass in the playoffs this year and he wishes he didn't have Larry Hughes eating up his cap space for 2 more years when he could have had the only untouchable player on the real life Pistons

Yeah I feel like maybe more input from Detroit, other than: is needed, lol.
Something that maybe shows he's read our above discussion, preferably!
