Dynasty Six Cup
Welcome to the Dynasty Six Cup competition! This competition operates much like a gigantic Playoffs including all 36 teams from Division 1 and 2!
Teams from both divisions will be randomly drawn against each other, the winner from each game will progress to the next round and the loser will be eliminated from the competition. Teams will not play each other more than once, there are no 3-game series, or 7-game series like in the NBA playoffs; just one loss means you're eliminated.
The competition will begin as soon as the trade deadline has passed.
Preliminary Rounds - 6 expansion teams fight for 2 spots.
To begin with, the number of competing teams must be reduced from 36 to 32 (this has to be done to maintain the pyramid style of competition explained below). Therefore I have chosen that the six new expansion teams, since they were given the bonus of the top six rookie picks this year, will compete for two spots amongst themselves before we begin the full competition with 32 teams.
Round One - 32 teams play each other, 16 progress.
All 32 teams (the original thirty plus the two successful expansion teams from the preliminary rounds) will have a randomly selected competitor picked to play against them. The winners from each of the 16 games will progress to round two.
Round Two - 16 teams play each other, 8 progress.
The 16 winners from round one will now play against each other and the 8 winners will progress.
Round Three - 8 teams play each other, 4 progress.
You get the idea.
Semi Finals - 4 teams play each other, 2 progress to the Finals.
Final - 2 teams play each other for the Erik Lassen Trophy (yes, that's right, I've named it after you, Erik ;D).
