Dynasty Five Draft - 2007 Revisited

I was just taking a look back at the first draft we had over at Dynasty Five - just over a year ago - and was wondering if you GMs would do things any differently.

Philly at the time was run by 'Jerry', who promptly disappeared from the league forever once the draft began, and as such he had Yi Jianlian picked for him. Dallas (D6 LVA), I think, certainly would not have picked Mike Conley at 4!

I personally remember being really stuck between Jeff Green and Al Thornton and I went for safety, seeing the Celtics had picked Green at No.5 in the real-life draft. Nowadays, I would've picked Thornton who fell to No.12 in our draft to the Lakers.

I was very lucky to get Jamario Moon in the second round. For some reason noone saw him there.

Interesting topic!

My picks:

#1: Greg Oden: I would actually still pick Oden over Durant despite the injuries. If he can ever stay healthy, he has the tools to be a dominant big man in this league. Durant is nice, but it is much easier to find a star swingman than a star center.

#15: Rodney Stuckey: This is looking like a great pick as he is looking very good. There's no one that was picked after Stuckey that I would take before him, and I would take him over a few guys that got selected earlier (i.e. Acie Law, Corey Brewer).

#22: Jason Smith: I honestly haven't heard that much about this guy, which can't be a good thing. His stats from last year look awful though. Looking back, I should have listened to the Knick homer inside of me and selected Wilson Chandler here (who was a steal at #32 for ATL). Unless things change, this is clearly my worst pick in the draft.

#25: Jared Dudley: Here's another guy whose stats aren't very good. I still expect him to be a solid role player in the league, which is kind of what I was expecting when I drafted him. In hindsight, I would probably take one of either Gasol, Landry, or Moon instead, but I'm still content with this pick.

#38: Rudy Fernandez: This guy is turning out to be an absolute steal, and I am very proud that I drafted him here. Unfortunately, I immediately traded him to the Lakers to shed about $6 million in cap space (damn you Jeffries!). Now that I still have over $29 million in cap space, I obviously regret making this deal. (I just tracked down Rudy, and the guy has been traded 4 times already...only to land with Lassen and the Bulls haha. I remember you said that was a steal when I picked him, and you were right sir! Congrats!)

I was very lucky to get Jamario Moon in the second round. For some reason noone saw him there.

Nobody knew who this guy was until the season started. Easily the biggest steal though IMO.

Rudy Fernandez. I was just impressed by Nichols impressive pre season that year with the Knicks, and I thought he might bust through their rotation. Oh how I was wrong.
