History.
A usually chronological record of events, as of the life or development of a people or institution, often including an explanation of or commentary on those events: a history of the Vikings.
A formal written account of related natural phenomena: a history of volcanoes.
A record of a patient's medical background.
An established record or pattern of behavior: an inmate with a history of substance abuse.
Now with this handful of knowledge, you've got to be wondering,
why, Aaron, did you mention this extensive piece of information
Well folks, as I informed you earlier in this postseason, history did indeed repeat itself. It took over two decades for the most anticapted match in Sports History.
Class in Session
The rivalary between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers is older than both of your parents. It was tradition in the 50's and 60's. It was a lifestyle, that took a twenty-one year absence and is finally resurrected this '08 postseason. With help by the reigning MVP and the renewed Big Three, you couldn't help but wait. But it isn't the present that is cause of all the hype, it is what happened before their time. The people that made it happen. The talented athletes who played for the love of the game.
1957: First banner earned by the Celtics. 1959 & 1960: Boston earns two more.
1962: a dynasty is born, Boston would wreck competiton. Celtics would win 3 NBA finals in a row, defeating the Lakers twice. 1966, Chamberlain and 76ers would take the title.
During the late 60's, the Bean Town would take two titles; snacting them from the clutches of Los Angeles.
1972 would be the year the Lakers would raise their first banner in the rafters. Taking a rest from the finals spot, the Celtics would win Game 6 over Lew Alcinder and the Bucks. 1976- Celtics take the hardware from the Connie Hawkins and the Suns.
Historic Eighties. Larry 'Legend' Bird took flight, over powering the Rockets in the '81 Finals. '84 Finals ended in yet another classic with the Celtic's winning the prized poession in pro-basketball.
1987. The year where 'Magic' happened. The classic sky-hook that changed the face of the Laker dynasty. The Lakers defeated the Celtics.
Game 1
Sure Game 1 was jam-packed with up's & downs, twists & turns, loop-de-loops, but it didn't disappoint basketball fans around the world. Beginning the game neck & neck the Celtics would try to take over the second half. And thats exacty what they tried to accomplish. With the Captian hitting an impossible four-point play, the Celtics looked to dominate. That is until the unexpected occured. Sure we seen player get injured during games but none like this. Pierce was said to have a "lower left knee sprain" and was carried off the court by fellow teammates. But magically the angels from the sky composed a brillant, yet somewhat corny miracle. Pierce would soon jog back onto the parque floor and be subbed in; shades of the '70's Willis Reed.
With this amazing come-back the Truth would nail two three pointers to put the game out of reach. The Celtics would win the game by a margin of 10 points but you have to wonder, will the Lakers strike back
Anyways folks, stay educated; it's history we're witnessing.
