SAN DIEGO DRAGON TIMES
New Era - New Beginnings
by Low a dedicated Dragons writer
SAN DIEGO-- The Dragons ushered in a new era under new GM Zee with a win over promotion favourites Memphis Grizzlies. The Dragons posted a 84-83 win over the Grizzlies in a hostile FedExForum in Memphis. Antoine Walker continue to put up good numbers, averaging a double-double in two consecutive games to defy suggestions by detractors that he has already played his best basketball.
Perhaps the pick of the night would be Troy Murphy, who managed an impressive 16 points, 12 rebounds, 1assist and 2 steals. Murphy who was deemed surplus to requirement at Indiana Pacers at the start of the season, was drafted 5th overall in the expansion draft by San Diego.
"He felt unwanted in Indiana, but over here in San Diego, we value all our players equally," said Zee. He added, "Troy is a solid rebounder, and therefore we decided to put him at center simply because of that and also because we are really lacking in depth at that position. Yes, Troy is wants to play at Forward, and we all know he plays better at Forward but as of now the situation does not permit that happening and I don't foresee that changing unless we managed to shake up the roster. “ That defiant character of GM Zee is beginning to show and it leaves one wondering whether will it affect the team positively or negatively.
