The New York Knicker(no pun intended)
Dragons GM headhunted by the Knicks
NEW YORK -- Perennial over-payers New York Knicks have signed GM Zee from cash-strapped expansion team the San Diego Dragons for a reportedly 7-figure, four-year contract. Knicks President Of Basketball Operations, Donnie Walsh, was quoted saying this, " Yes I feel we are overpaying this chap but if you look at his past records, it might perhaps justify the huge price tag." That is a huge 'perhaps' there and the quote has caused a huge hoohah amongst fans who are already doubting the ability of this eccentric coach that is Zee. Some are wondering why the previous GM who brought T-Mac to New York was fired, while others are still scratching the heads about the choice of GM when there are so many other great GMs out of work this summer.
We caught GM Zee outside the Madison Square Garden after his first meet-the-fans session yesterday and he has this to say. "I was brought here to revive the Knicks, to bring back the good old days during Patrick Ewing's time. If that is not possible perhaps as a last resort I will bring in his son, Patrick Ewing Junior and pray hard that he will achieve even half what his father achieved." He added, "I did not turn my back on the (San Diego) Dragons. It was they who turned their back on me. They were purportedly looking to reinstate previous GM scrapz and for the benefit of my career and my family, I had to look elsewhere. So to those fans that sent hate mails and death threats, please grow up. And find out about the real truth first before issuing your silly 'death' threats. Besides, I have always wanted to stay in New York City"
Well, the infamous defiance of Zee has once again made its appearance, only this time in metropolitan New York. We wish him all the best.
In a separate report, Knicks President Donnie Walsh called an urgent press conference, claiming he was mis-quoted in the earlier report. " I was definitely mis-quoted. You know these tabloids they like to twist and turn your words just to improve their pathetic sales. I don't want any bad feelings between Zee and myself and I am certain we can work well together. I feel this may be the start of a new Knicks dynasty!" Well, all of us here at Knicker wish him all the best as well.
